Valley of Fire State Park
Day Three - The Wave, White Pocket, & Valley of Fire S.P. - 2025
A quick stop at one of the United States’ best state parks -Valley of Fire- in Nevada.
1. Fire Wave #1
Valley of Fire became Nevada’s first official state park in 1935 and contains over 46,000 acres / 19,000 hectares of landscapes featuring red sandstone formations.
I had an early evening flight from Las Vegas back to the East Coast, which I reckoned gave me enough time to make a quick stop at Valley of Fire State Park, located not too far north of Nevada’s largest city. I wouldn’t have enough time to explore the whole park, but I did find a nice 3-mile / 5-kilometer hiking trail on AllTrails I thought I’d check out. This combined three separate trails -Fire Wave, White Domes, and Seven Wonders- into one.
Again, not much to add here - 22 photographs from Valley of Fire State Park follow.

All-in-all, I’d say if you are looking for something different to do in Las Vegas besides drinking, gambling, and watching the shows, Valley of Fire State Park is certainly an excellent option.
After returning my rental truck in Las Vegas, it was time for my transcontinental flight back home. Goes without saying this trip was outstanding, and finally getting to see The Wave was a pretty significant accomplishment for me. There’s always something for me to see and do in the American Southwest, and I have zero doubt I’ll be back to these places in the future.
